Doctors of the World Sends Medicine to Flood Victims in the Balkans
(Paris, May 22nd, 2014) In response to the deadly floods in the Balkans and the resulting shortage of medicine, the international organization Doctors of the World is dispatching 2.5 tons of medicine and medical equipment as a matter of urgency.
The mission is led in association with the Ministries of Health from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovinia.
A medical team will be sent in the following hours to assess urgent healthcare needs in the area.
Extreme weather conditions have been affecting the Balkans for days with floods and landslides causing numerous casualties. In Bosnia and Serbia there are thought to be tens of thousands of victims and displaced people.
